Honeybee Rescue
I was called out last week to rescue some honeybees that had setup shop in an abandoned brick wall. Luckily, the gentleman that was taking the building down identified the bees and reached out. It took me 2 hours on a ladder 15 – 20′ in the air to rescue them, boy did I find muscles I haven’t used in a while on this job. The bees have a new home in my apiary and they are doing very well. If you ever come across honeybees in the wild, or structures, trees, etc. Please reach out and I will come as soon as I can to rescue them. Tim

Limited Honey is here!
Hi all, sorry about the delay. Yes, I have honey, but the summer quantity is very limited because I had to fill advance orders. Please have a look at the store page to see what all I have in stock. I also had to raise prices due to everything going up in price. I don’t make money as a small backyard beekeeper, most of the money the girls earn off their hard work and sacrifice is spent on their needs before it is sold. I will be doing a fall extraction this year in a few weeks as well so, I will update quantities when I know what all I…

Those are some funny looking Honey Bees
Hello all, Today is an appreciation post for the helpful insects that sometimes get overlooked. Today I walked out to my backyard apiary, and as I was watching the girls come and go something caught my eye. So today’s post will be honey bee adjacent. I have an arbor that sits in front of the gate to my apiary. While watching one of the girls collecting pollen and nectar from some flowers in the apiary I noticed something moving out of the corner of my eye. This is the first time I have caught praying mantis babies hatching out of their nest. They are very cool insects, in fact as…

Adding a new out yard
I was recently invited to put a few colonies on a tree farm about 3 min from my current apiary. I happily agreed and got to work building it yesterday. Anyone in my area knows that digging is not an easy task because of all the rock we have here. Well, putting T-posts and 8’ grounding rods in isn’t much easier. Please excuse the crooked t-posts, they started out straight but, the rocks had other plans. Why did I need an electric fence you may ask. Well, black bears are very common in my area. While nothing will keep out a determined bear, electric fence is a little more insurance…

Replacement Queen Day
Sadly sometimes, queens for some reason disappear from their hives. This could be because, she died, was failing, accidentally got rolled by the beekeeper inspecting the hive, pests caused problems or she was chased from the hive. However it happened to me this time, I needed to replace my queen in one of my 9 hives. First I tried to give the colony a frame of brood from egg to capped. I did this so that the colony could try and raise their own emergency queen. It looked like they were successful, I saw emergency cells created, capped and then torn down. This means the virgin queen emerged took out…

Carbon County PA Honey Bee Swarm Collection Services by Tim
If you find a honey bee swarm, first try to identify if it is truly honey bees. Honey bee swarms are generally just trying to survive and often pay little attention to people or pets. Other stinging insects can be aggressive, so it is wise to give them space until identified. If you see a swarm and live in the Carbon County PA area, please give me a call or text at (610) 209-9061. I will be happy to come out and collect them as soon as I can. I am now offering Honey Bee Cut-Out services. Please contact me for more details.
